My counselling practice is based on the Person-centred Model, as developed by Carl Rogers, into which I integrate other models. This means that when you work with me I will listen attentively to you without judgement; the agenda will be yours – you bring to counselling whatever you choose. This does not mean all I do is listen! I will help you feel and think more deeply about your issues and help you come to a greater understanding and gain new insights about the issues you bring into counselling. I work in a gentle and supportive way, although at times it may also be challenging, but I hope you will feel safe and supported.
At times our work may go beyond words and we may find using creative techniques helpful, these may include art, writing, poetry, symbolic items or whatever you find helpful in your exploration. I only work with these methods if you find them helpful, not everyone does and we will work in a way which is best for you.
As a member of the BACP, I work within their Ethical Framework. This means that I will offer you a confidential service which will be explained fully during our first meeting.
