“The task of counselling is to give the client an opportunity to explore, discover and clarify ways of living more resourcefully and towards greater well-being”. (BACP)
During our lifetime, it is not unusual for us to have times of difficulty or sadness. It is during these periods that we might seek the support of a qualified counsellor to help us make sense of the issues we are struggling with. This may be the result of a recent or current event, but may also be the result of past experiences – even as far back as our childhood. It is never too late to take time out to help heal and come to terms with those issues that trouble us or prevent us from truly enjoying life and being at peace with ourselves.
Counselling is a unique, confidential relationship where you can expect to be listened to empathically, with acceptance and without judgement.
Clients seek counselling for many different reasons. This list, although not exhaustive, may help you identify your own needs. No issue is too big or too insignificant to bring to counselling.
